Google Offers SMS Text Messaging for ChatGoogle, the ultimate master

We know that Google is the world’s most popular search engine and things haven’t changed even after the Yahoo split. We know how Google extended itself to other territories and did as well. We mean Google AdSense, the affiliate marketing program. Very recently, Google started connecting with Friend’s connect, its social networking program. We mean to suggest that it’s a topper no matter what it undertakes. Google has started another facility of late. This is the Google SMS text messaging for chat.

How it works

Users can now look to send SMS messages through its integrated chat without cost. Just visit the Gmail Labs Page and scroll down till you get what you are seeking. Just on the left side of the Gmail’s interface, there is a chat window. On the top of the window, type the phone number. Now press the “Send SMS” button. A chat window will appear. Just type the message in the chat window and press “enter”. The message will fly to the receiver at a great pace. Presently the idea is being tested. It does not mean that Google is yet in the beta-version but all Google intends is to use the real version for US phones only for the time being. So even if you are outside, you can get ahead with the plan but you will have to redirect the message to US phones.

For the recipient

The instant messaging feature applied by Google can be replied through the cell phones. The recipient of the message simply has to press the reply button. Yes, you will have to go via Gmail lab. There is no substitute to it right now. Gmail lab has done very well to introduce almost 27 complete features since its introduction half a year ago.

Do not try instant-messaging through Google talk or google connect, it’s exclusively a Gmail lab domain. Google sends these text messages through a number exclusive to Google. When the recipient gets it, he can look to save the number. This is his link to the sender’s google chat ID. Moreover, this is the number through which he can reply.

Recipient’s prerogative

When the reply comes to your chat box, it automatically gets saved in the chat history. Now, do not attempt to go off-record while communicating through SMS. As a receiver you can use the command “stop” if you do not wish to avail Gmail SMS messages. You can use “Block” if you want to avail the Gmail feature but wish to block this particular sender. This is how you can put a complete stop to those who look for cheap computer thrills.

Gmail Labs’ other attempts

Gmail labs have also done many other worthwhile features before. It added a reminder feature to ensure that you added an attachment that you have talked about. It also added the feature of flagging messages with yellow stars. Another one is Quicklinks which allowed people to verily bookmark Gmail interactions. Gmail has 1000 such numbers and builds the Gmail lab messaging service on the belief that a single person is not likely to have a 1001 chat contacts. Presently, Google likes experimenting through Gmail labs. Soon, the service might be available through other gadgets too.

We wish that the master search engine keeps delighting us with its innovations.
