Pioneer Plasma PDP-LX 608GPlasma, the fad of present times Flat panel TVs became a sensation few decades ago. It is worthwhile to mention that color televisions with picture tubes have also lived their glory days. In its time, it was a novel invention. Things then changed fast for plasma and LCD’s. Out went the picture tubes and in came the light emitting diodes and external light source from the back of the panels. Today, Plasma is a craze. Top companies are promoting high-end plasma and they are getting sold like hotcakes. Let us talk about the Pioneer Plasma PDP-LX 608G within the ambit of this article.

Contrast ratio

This one is certainly right among the very best. It has a great contrast ratio, very quick response time, zero burn-in, lesser pixel aberration and high assimilation of videos. We will elaborate over few of its features. Contrast ratio for the pioneer is 20000:1. Contrast ratio is the measurement of difference in colors displayed on the screen at the same time. Now this is the difference between the whitest white and the darkest black; more this ratio, clearer the image resolution. While we know of few product lines which have contrast ratio to the tune of 50000:1 but then they are more suited to the other flat panel; we mean the LCD’s. This one uses Crystal Emissive Layer for producing deeper blacks.

Burn-in

Pioneer does not suffer from burn-in. Burn-in was more a feature of picture tubes. Here, the light is emitted from back of the monitor. In absence of burn-in, each pixel would be properly illuminated and not have any of the red blurs or extensions of pixels which mars the image. Moreover, the response time for the plasma is terrific. So you won’t have to bother for the action flicks.

Response time

There have been complaints about flat panels having dubious response times. In all those cases, the image gets suspended and lasts on the screen longer than usual. This is also known as trailer motion or log effect. In this plasma, the images get converted from black to white and black again fairly quickly. Hence there is no chance of a trailer motion. Thus this one is amazing for all kinds of action flicks or sports channels.

Resolution

Native resolution is 1920 x 1080. This means it’s an absolutely high definition material. Today, news channels, sports channels and others are purchasing million dollar equipment to stand up in the race of HD. This one certainly is a strong HD material. The menu section is admirable. It has noise reduction set up and color management system. The grayscale accuracy is quite above the mark. The bars come out rather well and do not tweak or wobble at the contrast control. Be a self-mechanic, reduce the whites a little and the contrast will come out all too brilliantly. Yes, there is some noise produced on the light patches but then the defect generally comes out during gaming and it is anyway not advisable to play.

The build

It has got a glossy finish and it looks a little strong but is passable for something as highly priced. Remember it comes for an exorbitant figure of 4, 49,000.Most of the connecting units are at the back. The model has got them all down. The left side panel consists of composite video and headphone.
